Ever talk to your dog?
My puppy was feeling a bit down yesterday after getting his second batch of shots. He just laid around, whining every now and then, pretty lethargic. I tried every thing I could think of to make him more comfortable (i.e. putting extra blankets in his cage if he wanted to sleep in it; craddling him in my lap; giving him his favourite toy or treat) but nothing seemed to be working. I knew this to be the side effect of the shots but I still felt bad for him. He started whining again and, having run out of ideas, I just started talking to him, and he responded by lifting his head. Encouraged, I just kept on talking about nothing really and the sound of my voice seemed to pacify him. I’ve never spoken to my pets like this before. Of course, I speak to them when playing or training, but never what is basically a one-sided conversation. I feel a bit mental, talking to a dog, but he seems to enjoy it.
Anyone else ever does this, or am I losing it? XD
That is fine. I talk to my puppy all the time. There is nothing wrong with a bond like that. Some people have animals that they do that with. You are not losing it. It is natural. For ppl that think that you are they dont have a close bond with their pets and could careless. So you are fine.
