Gnomon Training DVD is it good for beginners?

Is the Gnomon Training DVD Texture Painting: Weathered Surfaces a good source of training for a newbie for creating Game textures for 3d model made in Maya 2011.
I am completley new the texture creation so any advice on this DVD or on texture creation in general or on any other training would be great

Gnomon training DVD’s are quite good, but requires some knowledge on how to use Maya before you can really gain anything from it.
Since you state that you’re new to texture creation i suggest maybe looking at some tutorials on creating textures such as:

And if you can’t really find anything on the internet, try looking in a library where you can borrow books on older version of Maya.
