They could make take down rifles 100 years ago. Now they can’t. Why?
100 years ago, everyone traveled by train. So rifles took apart into two pieces. You could get almost any Wincester, Marlin, or Savage rifle in a take down model that broke down neatly into two pieces. The Remington 8, 81, 14 and 141 High Powered rifles all broke into two pieces.
Both the Germans and the Japanese made bolt action rifles for paratroopers that broke down into two pieces.
So why is it so impossible to make a two piece bolt action today?
