What’s WRONG with my dog!?
I have 2 dogs. 1 is a German Shepherd, well-behaved, has been potty-trained since 7 weeks old, obeys me, GREAT dog. I got another dog in April when she was 2 months old, she’s a mix between chihuahua, beagle, and terrier, and she’s AWFUL! I can’t potty-train her, I do everything the way I’m supposed to, and she’s STILL not getting it after all this time of consistency. She barks excessively! At anything and nothing. All the time. I’m so frustrated by her now, that I feel like she’s just not smart enough to learn proper behaviors, especially bc she has a great role model in my GS. How do I stop her excessive barking? And her everyday accidents?
Chihuahuas may be cute but are the worst kind of dogs to train in any way (except for cuteness). Try this- When my dog Max was a puppy we bought a bird bell and put it on a ribbon. We put the ribbon on the door we usually use to take him out. So every time you take your dog out to go to the bathroom, ring the bell. Eventually he’ll know that if he rings the bell, his owner will take him out. Hope this helps! And all dogs bark. Just try to teach her what the word no means.
